I can't seem to get my boot drive mirrored. I think I'm doing what I'm supposed to, but it fails to complete.

Mirroring the boot drive is not supported. You would have to have at least 3 drives: 1st drive your boot (make it your c:\ volume) then mirror 2nd and 3rd drive (make it your d:\ volume) for example. This would be ideal for a person to add couple of firewire (IEEE 1394) drives to their system.
