ATA NitroCannon 133 Testimonials

"I just got a 0+1 (mirrored stripe) array for my system and let me say I'm quite amazed.  In a 0+1 setup, two drives are striped (both drives receive the same data simultaneously, resulting in HUGE speed increases), then the two striped sets are mirrored, creating a redundant array.  One drive in the array can fail completely (two if they are on the same stripe) without loss in data.

"My computer feels brand new, like someone opened the data floodgate.  The whole system just seems less bottlenecky.  Conservatively it is twice as fast loading applications.  Plus, 80 GB of redundant storage (no more backing up to CD) is nice.  This would be a real windfall for digital audio.

"I used a 'NitroCannon ATA133' RAID adapter (from www.raidtoolbox.com), and four 7200 RPM IBM 40 GB drives.  Total cost for the drives, controller and shipping was about $380.  Not bad when you can't get into an 80 gb tape backup for less than $500.  And the SPEED.

"The Nitrocannon card has caused me to postpone updating my PIII1000 indefinitely."
